Like many others who grew up with MySpace and early Facebook, I just love to divulge personal information to shady companies by filling in questionable quizzes backed by pseudoscience and pop-psychology just to find out which F.R.I.E.N.D.S character I am…
Still, because it’s a bit of fun, I’ve sought out numerous personality tests over the years and have compiled some of the results here.
Also known as the 16 Personalities test.
I’ve taken this test in several forms, usually I get INTP, but once or twice I’ve gotten ISTP and an INTP-T, so I figure I may be straddling the line somewhere between Intuitive and Sensing, though I tend to agree more with the descriptions of INTP types.
Quiet, thoughtful, and analytical, INTPs are Introverted Thinking types who put a great deal of consideration into everything they do. They prefer to lay low and work hard, and while they may seem impersonal with people they don’t know well, it’s simply because they like to have a close group of people that they open up to.
INTPs are easygoing and unaffected, and they are often zoning out thinking about new concepts or wondering how things work.
ISTPs are diligent workers who genuinely enjoy becoming experts at a craft or in their career. They are cool and level-headed in a crisis and can quickly determine what needs to be done and effectively solve the problem. They are tolerant and logical.
And while they are slow to anger, they generally have little tolerance for drama or irrational behavior. While they aren’t particularly social, ISTPs are kind, helpful, and understanding, and are always willing to lend a hand.
In the 1920’s, Carl Jung theorised that you could categorise people by their thought processes; Thinking, Feeling, Sensation and Intuition (ring any bells from MBTI above?). In 1926 William M. Marston published “Emotions of Normal People”, using Dominant, Influencing, Steady and Compliant categories, which is what is in use still here today.
According to crystalknows.com I fall into the “Skeptic” category.
Most likely private and purposeful. They tend to be very matter-of-fact, avoiding unrealistic ideas and unnecessary change. Don’t be surprised if they gets frustrated when rushed to produce something without considering quality standards.
People with D personalities tend to be confident and place an emphasis on accomplishing bottom-line results.
People with I personalities tend to be more open and place an emphasis on relationships and influencing others.
People with S personalities tend to be dependable and place the emphasis on cooperation and sincerity.
People with C personalities tend to place emphasis on quality, accuracy, expertise, and competency.
The Enneagram is a system of personality typing that described patterns in how people interpret the world, manage their emotions and relate to one another.
It oulines “Core Beliefs” which drive our deepest motivations and fears and fundamentally shapes our worldview.
Enneagram Fives are defined by their desire to conserve their energy and to avoid being drained by engagement with the outside world. They focus on being knowledgeable and competent so that they can be as self-sufficient as possible. Fives enjoy deepening their understanding of the world, expanding their intellect, while minimizing their physical and relationship needs.
Fives are motivated by a desire to be competent and possess a strong understanding of their environment. This motivation drives them to a nearly constant state of learning and knowledge accumulation.
Fives fear being overwhelmed by their own needs and the needs of others. To cope with this fear, they withdraw from relationships and maintain a minimalist lifestyle, focusing on the intellectual as an escape from the demands of the world.
Avarice - feeling that you lack inner resources and that too much interaction with others will lead to catastrophic depletion; withholding yourself from contact with the world; holding onto your resources and minimizing your needs.
“Your needs are not a problem.”
